Lignaverda sows hope
We are excited to announce that the sowing activities for the 2024 season have been completed! A total of 10 million seeds have been sown in various locations, including Boboral, Wouro Séno, Wendou Mouthiétéki, Mbélone Kadié, Bockineddo, Nacy, Kalom, and Loumboul Djiby. We only take into account 750,000 trees (300 trees per ha) that mature and remain for at least 30 years (2500 ha is an equivalent of 250.000 tCO2 in semi-aride area (200-440mm rain)).
These trees represent not only a significant step forward in our fight against climate change but also a sustainable investment in the region’s future. By supporting these sowing activities, you are directly contributing to:
- A healthier planet: Trees play a crucial role in capturing CO2, thereby contributing to the fight against climate change.
- Biodiversity: The new forests create a habitat for countless plant and animal species, increasing biodiversity in the region.
- Improved soil quality: Trees help to improve soil structure and prevent soil erosion.
- Local prosperity: The reforestation projects create jobs for local people and contribute to sustainable economic development.
In addition to the sowing activities, we are now focusing on strengthening existing plots. We have set up a nursery to fill in areas where too few trees have grown (less than 300 trees per hectare). This will ensure that the new forests can grow optimally and reach their full potential.
The work does not stop there, of course. In July, August, and September, we will fence off the locations. We hope that all sites will be fenced off by the end of September. This will protect the young trees from grazing animals and vandalism, significantly increasing their chances of survival.
Stay tuned!

Together we plant hope for a better future!
