Launching Our 2025 Reforestation with the Delfino Plough
At Lignaverda, we believe that restoring degraded landscapes starts with strong, determined action.
In early April 2025, we officially launched large-scale groundworks on three new sites, each covering 200 hectares, in the community of Syer, Senegal:
• Bellel Aya
• Bellel Gawdi Cherif
• Tagar
These 600 hectares represent a vital expansion of our reforestation efforts, with the goal of transforming arid, degraded soils into thriving, resilient ecosystems.

To prepare the land for sowing, we employed a powerful 220 HP tractor paired with a Delfino 3S plough, a specialized piece of equipment designed for applications of the Vallerani water harvesting technique. This technique involves creating carefully spaced half-moon shaped furrows in the soil that capture and retain rainwater, dramatically increasing the survival rate of young trees, even in harsh, dry environments.
By using the Delfino plough, we can work more efficiently and create ideal conditions for trees to take root and grow. It is a significant asset in our capacity to scale our reforestation work while maintaining ecological sensitivity.
Why It Matters
Water is one of the scarcest resources in the Sahel. By applying smart, water-saving land preparation techniques, we not only plant trees, but also give them a real chance to thrive. Over time, these new forests will help restore soil fertility, support biodiversity, and offer sustainable livelihoods to local communities.
This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for more updates as planting begins and these landscapes start their slow but steady journey back to life.
🌱 Because real change starts by putting the right tools and the right intentions into action.
